alcohol

Our lecture was on alcohol and the statistics.

what i found most interesting in the lecture was that whilst the stats pointed out that the amount being drunk by people, the consumtion of alsohol has risen, but the statistics of children that NOT consuming alcohol has risen.

I happen to be tee-total. what i don't get, is why people drink so exessively they cause damage to themselves and more than likely end up causing violent disorder? which you can get arrested for quite easily. from this webpage http://www.bbc.co.uk/switch/surgery/advice/drink_drugs/alcohol_booze/

it states that drinking to much causes horrible side effects, so it still baffals me.
